He is a multifaceted artist, composer, music producer, entrepreneur and visionary of his own musical genre, which Marcoof500 has baptized as Cartel Drill Music.
Marcoof500 has dubbed its style Cartel Drill Music.
Poster drill music is a carefree musical style and outside all the rules of traditional hip hop. Marcoof500 has made a demonstration of how a song sounds with “No manners” one of its most popular songs. This song was produced by Kingasabeatz and mixed and mastered by Marcoof500 himself.
He has worked with many artists, but believes that he still has a lot to learn. “I still have room to grow and improve as a musician,” admitted Marquis Tarver. Questions and answers extracted from interview with Marquis Tarver a.k.a Marcoof500.
- Why did you choose Marcoof500 as your stage name?My name is Marquis Tarver, I was born on May 22 in Norfolk Virginia. I choose the name Marcoof500, because while I was in Cali for a while, my friends called me Marco and while I grew up in Woodbine, Georgia, we called everything “Fye”, it was GA slang. I was always told to keep the hundred, but I’m more genuine than the 100, so I merged everything about myself into one. This is how Marcoof500 was born!
- How did you get started in the world of music and what motivated you to do it?
My cousin was always better than me rapping and I wanted to learn the backend from him to help him succeed in his career. We were far apart, miles apart and we didn’t see each other in the eye. I decided to venture out for myself to show him that I could decide to help him, so I started my own record label “500 Entertainment LLC”, called 500 Cartel.
- What qualities do you think make a great musician?
I think being a great animator and storyteller are qualities of a great musician. Also being true to yourself to allow your supporters to see your true self and that emotional connection emerges.
- What is your best project so far?
Of the albums I made I have to say that The Book of Marco is one of my favorites. There’s a deeper meaning behind this and I’m not going to get into that much, but you can find the meaning by listening to the album or reading about it online.
- What would you say about “No manners”? What would you say makes it so remarkable?
“No manners” is a version of Marco that the world doesn’t see much. I’m Gemini, so there are no manners that describe that to some extent. An instant of being called a narcissist, then an epiphany of the era we are in the world with the Internet. How we grew up and what we have become. The song also gives nostalgia for the older piercing music! This song was produced by Kingasabeatz and mixed and mastered by myself Marcoof500. This is a complete VA clash, as the producer is from Virginia and so am I. We brought exercises to Virginia.
- Who would you like to do a collaboration with?
I want to do a collaboration with King Lil Jay Aka #00 Aka OMC Jay! I also want to lock myself up with Rooga, he has gone crazy since I was young.
- Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and release dates?
I have releases coming the rest of the year of 2022. Upcoming releases will be titled:
V-Troit falls on July
15, 500 Degreez available on July
29 Black Roses falls on August
5 Wait 4 Me, available on October 25.
- How do you see the music industry 10 years from now? What are your goals for then?
I see the music industry repeating itself, finding its way back to the era of “true hip-hop.” Skywalkers may be booming again. My goal is to be in the management of artists full time. I want to keep growing my record label and see others thrive.
