Prahdaw: This new genre called “Rage beats” will have a lot of impact

David Castañeda (born November 29, 1990), better known as Prahdaw or Prahdawmusic, is an American composer and music producer, originally from Santa Ana, California. Prahdaw has announced that he is preparing new projects with other artists, and in the elaboration of his first album under his name.

David Castañeda has grown up in Orange County, California; the cradle of West Coast Hip hop. David, Prahdaw from now on, says that he has always been passionate about music, and that he danced breakdance before discovering music production. Among his other artistic facets, it should be noted that Prahdaw has a millimeter pulse at drawing and he is an excellent skateboarder. “I surrounded myself with amazing friends who were also making music. They motivated me and pushed me to be the best I can be,” PrahDaw.

At age 19, Prahdaw began to discover the secrets of the music industry. Gradually, his interest grew as he performed at different local events. At the age of 21, Prahdaw realized that music is his passion and that he had to consider taking his career seriously. So, he began admiring and learning from other hip hop music producers of Murda Beatz, Ronny J, Kanye West and Pierre Bourne.

THE HARDEST PART WAS GETTING MONEY TO SUPPORT MYSELF AND FINANCE MY MUSIC. I KNEW I NEEDED FUNDS TO BUY EQUIPMENT TO TAKE MY MUSIC TO THE NEXT LEVEL AND GET EXPOSURE, BUT AT FIRST IT WAS DIFFICULT BECAUSE I HAD LITTLE SUPPORT.

He has tried different genres from classic hip hop to EDM. This is how Prahdaw has achieved its comfort zone with the new genre of instrumentals called “rage beats”. The “Rage beats” have minimal percussion, 808 short and forceful with airy synthesizers that synchronize very well with the autotune. Songs like Trippie Redd’s “Miss The Rage” and SoFaygo’s “Off the Map” are archetypal songs from “Rage beats.”

Interview with David Castañeda (Prahdaw).

As a music producer who has experimented with different genres, which one do you identify with the most and which would you like to try in the future?

  • I feel super comfortable making hip-hop and edm music. I’ve been experimenting more with pop music and it’s been fun.

Do you have any albums recorded?

  • Not alone, not at the moment.

Of the artists you’ve collaborated with, who would you repeat with?

  • I would say my sons Yung Bambi, Kamiyada+ and Kiid Spyro.

What is it like to work with KIID SPYRO?

  • It’s very easy to work with Spyro, we just click and have great chemistry.

Your song DROP TOP already has more than 1 million plays on Spotify alone, how did the idea of creating something like this come about?

  • Kiid Spyro and I were talking on FaceTime and I was creating a rhythm. Then he started doing freestyle and then I sent it right away and we got it on the spot.

Now, which artist would you like to work with in the not-too-distant future?

  • I would love to work with Drake, Pierre Bourne, Murda Beatz, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, Smokepurpp and Kanye West.

How do you see the evolution of the music industry in the coming years?

  • I see this new genre called “Rage beats” that’s just peaking. It’s going to have a big impact in the coming years.

Can you give us a sneak peek of your upcoming projects?

  • Right now I’m making drum packs to send to some of my favorite artists. I’m also working on an album to release under my name.

What has helped you the most as an independent musician?

  • The best thing I’ve been through is meeting new artists and getting a cool music manager called Trapzillas. It has been a long journey with many experiences that have made me a stronger artist.
