Young artists from the region blend Punjabi lyrics with global hip-hop beats, creating a unique subculture that resonates with both local and international audiences. Artists such as Sidhu Moose Wala, Karan Aujla, and AP Dhillon have helped pave the way for Punjabi hip-hop on the world stage.
Saab belongs to this new era — a generation of artists bridging traditional Punjabi themes with modern urban music, often addressing migration, identity, struggle, and resilience.

Musical Journey, Industry Conflicts and Plagiarism Issues
Saab began his career over 15 years ago in Punjab, where he learned music alongside Assassyn (previously known as Brown Prince). Together, they created several tracks, with their most notable success being “Pake Mitran Ne Jacketan” (Brown Prince ft. Khaleef), which went viral on YouTube and gained a significant following.
Following their relocation to Vancouver, Surrey, the duo’s professional relationship deteriorated, leading to public disputes. However, internal conflicts surfaced, leading to a public fallout that has since been widely recognized in the industry. Saab has faced diss tracks from Assassyn and his team, but despite the controversy, he remains focused on creating new music.
Saab also faced challenges after “Pake Mitran Ne Jacketan” (Jacketan Lightan Waliyan) gained popularity, claiming that elements of the song were later copied by mainstream Indian artists. The incident highlights the wider issue of independent artists struggling to protect their creative work in an industry where large production houses can easily appropriate ideas without proper credit.

Despite setbacks, Saab is gearing up for a major comeback. With new music on the way, Saab is ready to reclaim his space in Punjabi hip-hop. He is set to release a highly anticipated track named “Lap Te Clip & Upstate” – Saab ft Arky saimbhi. A hard-hitting lyrics, powerful storytelling, and an uncompromising hip-hop sound.
