Replused: vaporwave music and analog glitch art

Replused vaporwave

Joris Mirena (born January 4, 2002) is a vaporwave music producer known as Replused. Replused is a native of Geneva (Switzerland), his curiosity and his musical ear have led him to dedicate himself to music in a professional way. “I’m working on a project that will be launched this summer,” he announces.

Replused has always wanted to express vaporwave culture in all its glory, so he decided to study visual arts and vaporwave music. “I’ve always had an underlying interest in analog glitch art, I just never knew what it was called, so I preferred to do something else instead, which was at the time 3D images,” Replused tells us.

I have been involved in the performing arts since my teens.

In 2021, he had the opportunity to finally understand how it is done this way is how he began to mix 3D culture with analog glitch art. Now, in 2022, he’s thinking more about music. Their songs are available on music platforms like YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud.

Replused began studying the operation of various music production programs in a self-taught way until he discovered vaporwave music. Vaporwave is a genre of electronic music, and an artistic style that emerged in the early 2010s on sites like Reddit and 4chan. Many considered it a type of meme music until pioneers such as James Ferraro, Daniel Lopatin and Ramona XavierWill Burnett or Daniel Lopatin took it to the highest level.

INTERVIEW WITH REPLUSED

  • Tell us about the topics of your work.

My work has subtle meanings, I draw the themes of my work from solitude and spirituality. Because it’s a direct expression of what’s going through my head. That was very obvious in my early works, but over time I’ve become quieter about the real meanings. It is always on a subliminal level.

  • Over time, the work of many artists becomes more nuanced and less open, yet themes and truths remain. How does your creative process begin?

The thought and feeling of doing nothing is what I think makes me create, but in the same way those who support my craft motivate me to produce work. My family is incredibly supportive of my work and I thank them very much for that.

  • When do you plan to publish your next music project?

I’m not sure about my next single, but I’m working on a project that will be released this summer.

  • What impact does social media have on your work?

A big impact. I think it’s the same for everyone because my work wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for social media, it’s what puts content in front of others to see!
