
Patricio “Pato” Botello Faz (born September 8, 1996 in Monterrey, Mexico) is a 19th forward for the Detroit City FC soccer team since April 2021. He started playing soccer at the age of 4 in the team of his school (Liceo Monterrey), and since then he has not stopped having fun and making his family proud with the love he feels for this sport.
Detroit City FC is the official football team of the city of Detroit, Michigan, United States. Founded in 2012 and competing to reach the playoff of the USL Championship 2022. Patricio “Pato” Botello Faz’s current team reached the semi-finals of the National Premier Soccer League in 2019; and has participated in the National Independent Soccer Association.

He has scored 7 goals with the Detroit team. This year, Patricio Botello Faz has played four matches and has managed to score in his last match against Menphis. A key goal that prevented the defeat of the home team in the 73rd minute. He is now preparing for his next match against Michigan Stars FC, and atlanta United FC.

What is your workout routine? What helps you stay in shape?
- We train Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 10 AM, we also have gym sessions after training on Mondays and Tuesdays. Normally, we have Wednesdays off, we have a game on Saturday and Sunday off. I stay in shape by training hard every day and having a good diet!
Do you think it’s easy to succeed as a footballer?
- I don’t think it’s easy, because there are a lot of things you can’t control.
What goals would you like to achieve as a professional?
- Playing at the highest level I can, I will leave it to God.
How do you see your Detroit City FC team this season?
- We have a lot of new players and it’s still early in the season, but we have good players and a great coaching staff, so far we’ve looked good, as long as we keep working harder than the other teams, we’ll have a chance to make the playoffs.
Could you name us the one you’ve learned the most with?
- I’ve had a few over the years, but I highlight Trevor James.
Do you have a reference in the world of football?
- I’ve had a few over the years, Ronaldinho was the first safe. Of course not, it’s André-Pierre Gignac!
Do you play football regularly in your spare time or only when you train or play a game?
- Off-season I play a lot. During the season not much, sometimes on my days off I will, but not much.
In addition to playing football, do you play any other sports?
- Growing up I played almost every sport. Right now I dedicate my life to football.
Are you studying at the same time as you play professional football?
- No, I graduated from St. Mary’s University in 2019.
How do you feel when you win a match?
- The feeling is indescribable, it is one of the best feelings in the world.
Would you criticize any aspect of the football world?
- Like everything in life, it can sometimes be very corrupt.
