  INTERVIEWING JELANI KAY ABOUT MILLIONS

What was it like growing up in Moreno Valley? How would you describe the environment and how it plays a part in your music?

Man Growing up In Moreno Valley was crazy! All my friends went too jail at a young age! It was so much going on, like we had n—as killing each other just for calling another man a weirdo bro. So you can just imagine how it went up in the streets. I was always focused on getting my money, I grew up flocking at a young age bro. Street hoodlum but a gentleman like my momma raised me.

Who were your biggest influences when you decided to become a recording artist?

My biggest influences that inspired me to record is my boy Waseem, he just made it look too easy! And my boy RadioBase! That guy is a nut! We always used to get drunk and make funny music in his garage.

If you could feature 2 artists on a track with you, who would they be and why them?

If I can get 2 artists on a track I would get NBA YOUNGboy and Drake because those guys don’t miss! And big money is involved plus I’m rocking with YB sound right now.

Let’s talk about your song “Millions”. How did it feel shooting your first music video to this song? And what made you do your first video to this particular track?

Ahh man I just wanted to try something new to be honest and it was fun for real bro. Shooting my first music video just had me practice to be on camera more bro, like the song was a hype song you feel me? I needed something that sounded familiar to the public ear. My girl inspired me to shoot the video, she would listen to the song rapping my lyrics and tell me over and over “Babe you need a video to this.“

Do you have any advice for other up and coming artists like yourself, that would help them or inspire them to make moves like you have been?

Absolutely! TAKE CARE OF YOUR BUSINESS AND LOOKOUT FOR SELF! You gotta want it bad enough to make moves. Make sure you straight before anyone else because this game is cold, no one gone look out, you gotta make a vision on your own! Take your time with your music, no need to rush! That’s the biggest problem now! ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU PURCHASE / LEASE YOUR BEATS AT ALL TIMES !

PAY FOR WHAT YOU WANT, DONT WASTE TIME ON A DEAL ALL THE TIME. RESPECT GOES A LONG WAY WHEN PAYING FOR WHAT YOU WANT, OTHER THAN ASKING EVERYONE FOR A DEAL!
